» Summary of Sport Activities End of the Trail Tough Going for Redskin Pigskin Toters The Wooburn Bulldogs defeated the Chemawa Indians on their own battle grounds on Armistice Day, November 11. With a score of 32-0 against them the Indians ended their last game of the season. Their stand ing in the Big Nine League is now third. The In dians were headed for the championship before they met Parkrose who defeated them 21-19. Then came the Silverton game which ended in a tie. At the end of the season , Chemaw’a had two losses, five wins, and two ties, a record which shows the Redskins had a very successful season. Some of the individuals who made their letters were:Joseph, LaRoque, Maxwell, VanPelt, Rice, Hilliare, George, Whitford ------ ’’ " S. Beaudry, Courville, Youngman, vValters, and Davis. Most of these lettermen should be back next year for another good team. Basketball Flashes Turnout On Nov. 18, the Chemawa Chiefs started turn ing out for varsity basketball under Doug Olds, the coach. The large number of turnouts scim- maged and went through a series of various ex ercises. Most of last year’s lettermen are return ing with other boys who show promise during the coming season. With the material available this year the Braves should go far. Some of the lettermen who turned out are: La Roque, Daves, Saluskin, Teton, Demo, Jackson, and Williams. New prospects for the team this year are: Whitelaw, Walters, E.Teton, Vanpelt, Whitford, Tissidimit, and Youngman. Intramural Sports The juniors were unable to cope with the mighty seniors on Saturday, Nov. 22, in the intramural basketball game as they were out tricked and out played with the final score ending 29 to 25 in fa vor of the upperclassmen. The game was diffi cult for most of the boys were not in ‘ ‘condition. ’ ’ The freshmen cut loose to defeat the sophomores 25 to 18 in a hard fought game. Did you know that.... “Chuck” Lawrence “likes it for” Haystack? Sybil Wood is really lonely and blue since that certain senior boy went home? We have some new “cases” now-a-days such as: Courville and Ruthie; Curly and Sherley; Gochanourand Della; Baby LaRoque and Margie; and B.C. and ?? Fay Havird had a “brother” in the Army? “Brewer” had a special reason for spending his Thanksgiving in Portland. “Brother Swede” was heard praying for pea nuts by the bucketfuls” at the Turkey Dance? “Cece” isn’t even afraid of the dark? Joe Broncheau is about to retire from the music world? Sweetsie and Sandy are our newest ‘ ‘Hep-cats”? “Bud” Edden claims that he has “one foot in heaven”? T' * <se v football season, there is w.. . couple to every tree? “Tiny” Miles has been all smiles lately because a certain boy just came back? “Bing” has changed his name to “Rudy Mucha”? Almost all of the seniors have, or have had their names changed? (Some of them didn't even know it themselves!—until the other day in Eng lish.) “Nosey” was talking about running a barber shop at Siletz? “Swede” says he made a big hit from home? B.C. and Davis are going to join the Salvation army? Demo is called by the name “Famous Hawk- man”? “Cece” Charley seems to have a likeness for the name “Bennie”? It’s about time Trudie was getting out of the hospital to continue her affair with? R. Summers and C. Sams say they haven’t got it bad, what do the rest of you think? June Ford really seems to be taking an interest in her last period class lately, wonder who else is interested, too? (Some swede.) Girls Athletic Association The G. A. A. girls have been divided into teams for basketball, the captains are: Esther Frank, Martha Case, and Alyce Spencer. The girls went on a hike to Hazel Green. They have many things planned, among which will be a skating party where the girls may attend the skating rinks in Salem.
