G rand R onde : This Homeroom group is
slowly increasing in number. Mr. Larsen has
been helping the group splendidly. Recently he
let them use a book of maps of which some were
valuable to the group. The group has often chosen
different individuals to lead them in a game.
T ongue R iver : This group has been study­
ing about timber, members of Tribal Council and
their qualifications, the number of cattle on the
ranges, and how money is secured to buy cattle
for a beginner. The study of the uses of land
takes in the irrigation (where and how much).
Notes of importance are being put into notebooks.
U matilla : Map reading was the study stressed
lately. The Reservation Survey is also being
studied. Corrections are b ei n g made on the
map which was made last year and they are
planning to draw a new one soon.
T ulalip No. 1: Mrs. El linger and Supt.
Jackson were the distinguished visitors of the
Homeroom recently. Suggestions were made
for the Homeroom to study the preamble, Con­
stitution and By-laws, and the Wheeler-Howard
Bill. Morris Alexander, a frequent visitor, has
been offering excellent information and sugges­
tions to the group.
C olville 1: This group had a test reviewing
all information received from the reservation.
They have been studying mostly about timber
and grazing land. The Indians on the Colville
reservation are trying to get at least one-fourth
ownership of the reservoir on the reservation.
T aholah : Mr. Salter has given the members
of this Homeroom a few quizzes in preparation
for the coming tests. With the able leadership
of President Blanche Shale, the group has be­
come interested in law and are learning all they
can about the laws on the reservation.
F lathead : This group has been working on
their maps, and for a special project they are
studying the size and number of acres of timber
and grazing land. They are making a study of
the population of the reservation, both Indians
and white people, and how many acres the Indi­
ans farm in comparison with the land farmed by
the white people.
F ort H all : The members of this Homeroom
are nearly finished with their map, and intend to
send it to the agency to have other information
put on it. They hope to have the map completed
by May. Each member has chance to lead the
meetings, and they are all doing nice work. They
have had discussions on the reservation survey
and will see what they can possibly find out about
it.
C alifornia : The members in this Homeroom
are writing down the information concerning their
reservation. They are completing their health
posters, which will be attractive and effective
when they are finished. The students take turns
in conducting the meetings, and find this system
quite satisfactory.
Y akima : The Yakima students answer ques­
tions about their reservation concerning the irri­
gation system—the cost of water for irrigating,
and the number of acres suitable for farming as
a result of irrigation. They are also studying the
variousclubs and organizations open to the Indi­
an youth, and the benefits received from these
clubs.
W arm S prings : This group has received suf­
ficient amount of information and are studying
especially of land allotments, farm land and its
value, and timber and its value. The Indian
Council on the reservation has also been studied.
The State Highway running through the res­
ervation is now completed up to the agency.
S iletz : This group has started drawing a new
map. Mr. Larsen told the group the history of
the Siletz Indians. (How originally placed on
the reservation, etc. ) The Reservation Survey has
been studied and members are “raring to take a
crack at the final examination.”
K lamath : T o this group, Supt. G. B. Court­
right of the Klamath Agency sent the pictures of
the Klamath Tribal Council. Mr. Sission recent­
ly visited the Homeroom and told of the location
of the good and poor timber on the reservation.
F ort P eck : This Homeroom has been cons­
tantly studying the Constitution and By-laws,
with several tests taken on this Constitution. The
group expects special paper from Portland on
which to draw a new map. Several students have
started writing their essays. “Cinch for prize,”
they said. Our Homeroom is still getting up-to-
date information from the reservation.
