P age 4 T he CHEMAWA AMERICAN ATHLETICS BASEBALL SEASON OPENS Since the opening of the baseball season we have been having the familiar old chattering of our horse hide tossers on the ball field. They have been batting and tossing the good old pill as well as thawing out the pitching arm, touching up on rules and learning the art of good baseball. On March 31 they went to Molalla to play their first game. In spite of Molalla’s strong experienced team our Redskins played an almost shut-out game and de feated them to the melody of 10 to 1. On April 1 the Lincoln baseball nine visited us and played a double-header on our home field. With the cooperative playing of the Reds we nosed out with the score 9 to 8. The second was tie game, score 5 to 5. The game with Lebanon on April seventh added another victory to our list. This game was also held on the local field. The main feature being the pitch ing of Pete Seltice who in six innings struck out 13 Leb anon batsmen and allowed but one hit and no runs. The result being in favor of our pill tossers with a score of 13 to 4—which keeps our standing in the Valley inter-scholastic league unsullied. The game with Lebanon on April 7, added another victory to our list. This game was also held on the local field.
