In d ian girls of th is type are a real in sp iratio n and give m uch e n c o u r agem ent to th e girls. Now th a t exam ination week is here both divisions of the sophom ore class w ork to g eth er and they are g ettin g th e D om estic Science ready for d em o n stratio n w eek, w hich is n ex t w eek. T h ey are giving it a th o rough sp rin g cleaning. DO M ESTIC A R T N O TE S T h e graduation dresses are all com pleted now. A large num ber of costum es are m ade by th e sm aller g irls for the operetta. G rad u atio n dresses are being m ade for Ju lia Gro- inoff an d E leanor H au k . T h is week finds our d ep artm en t very busy m ak in g the costum es for the operetta. T h e collar and vestee sets have been com pleted for th e sp o rt su its for M cBride H all girls. T h e seniors and ju n io rs have com pleted th e ir finals in dom estic art and all have passed w ith creditable grades. T h e Senior g irls will have w hite o rg an d ie h ats to go w ith th e ir g rad u atio n dresses. T hey will be m ade in the a rt d ep artm en t. D u rin g chapel exercises on S unday evening the o r ch estra played “ D evotion” by M ackie-B eyer, M audie C raig san g “ A Bowl of R oses” by C lark, G eorge Le- kanoff sang “ I ’m L onging for Y o u ” by H ath aw ay , the choir sang the “ W onderful S tory of L o v e” by D river, and S u p t. HaU gave a very fine talk , as he does every S u n d ay evening. H e touched stro n g ly on th e la te n t possibilities w hich are w ithin all of us and he pointed out th e advantages of in itiatio n in the m a t ter of self help. H e drew atten tio n to the fact th a t the w hole w orld is crying for help, w hen, as a m atter of fact, the only real help comes from ourselves. If we are not w illing to help ourselves there is after all lit tle use in helping us. It was a spendid talk and held th e atten tio n of a ll. Y. M. A N D Y. W . C. A. N O TES On S unday afternoon th e Y. W . C. A . discussed, very in te re stin g ly , “ T he A ll-round G ir l,” from th e stan d p o in t of m anners, speech, athletics, hom e life, stu d ie s, and religion. P resident N ancy M atheson presided at th e m eeting and E m m a C arlson gave a g u ita r solo. M r. and M rs. P etri, and M r. Jeffreys w ere visitors at the m eeting and spoke in very com pli m en tary term s of the program an d w ork of th e associ atio n . W arm sp rin g su n sh in e, the call of the woods, and th e elusive odor of “ ja v a ” sim m ering over a cam p fire drew th e Y .W .C .A . girls out for th eir ann u al picnic last S atu rd ay afternoon, w here th ey forgot their usual cam pus dig n ity and played b a se b a ll, ran h u rd le races, roasted “ w eenies,” clim bed trees, and otherw ise enjoyed them selves for several hours. T h e event was concluded in picnic style w ith a delicious supper w hich had been prepared by the social com m ittee. A new Y .M .C .A . has been organized on th e cam pus recently w hich is creatin g m uch in terest am ong th e B rew er H all boys, for whom it was sta rted . It is know n as th e C lim bers Club, and is ta k in g up a three- year program of the four-fold life, w hich is specially prep ared for b oys’ clubs.
