T hey are also very busy w ith th e old office b u ild in g , job orders of all k in d s, and w orking up old m aterial th a t would otherw ise be w asted, in m ak in g fru it boxes. T h e p ain ters are w o rk in g in B rew er H all at present and in other places also. T h ey are g reatly im proving th e appearance of the assem bly room and th e re are th e halls y et to do. Some r ic e w ork in w hite enam el is also being done by th is d ep artm en t at th e dom estic science. T h is d ep artm en t is caused a g reat deal of w oik at tim es by carelessness on the p art of th o u g h t less persons w ho break w indow glass. Be careful, it is “ bad luck to break g la s s .” LOCAL T h e farm boys have been tak in g out some of the dead trees in th e orchard. M r. H en ry T u rn e r is w orking over th e tracto r to have it in shape for sp rin g w ork. E very high w ind is m ore or less an ill wind for our yard boys, as it blows tw igs and lim bs from our firs and scatters them about our lovely cam pus. On W ednesday evening a ju n io r basketball team from C hem aw a w ent to the S tate T ra in in g School for a gam e w ith a q u in te t at th at in stitu tio n . From th e fact th a t we got “ w o rsted ” in spite of all th a t M r. B et tles, w ho accom panied o u r boys, could do we opine th a t th e boys at the S tate School m ust be respected T h e score was against us 25 to 20. W inona W h o ’s going to put th e “ w in ” into W inona? T h e four W inona spellers, w ith M rs. Brickell an d V irg in ia, had a “ ja v a-sp re ad ” after th e contest w ith th e ir advisor. T h e W inonas were am ong those present at th e a n nual contest, but received a place am ong th e “ also- r a n s .” H ow ever, th is place was n ex t to first and W inona was able- to cheer the R eliance w inners at least a little bit.
