O ur advisory m em ber, Miss H e n d rix , gave her report and after a few yells our society adjourned. L I T E R A R Y S O C IE T IE S W inonas T h e W inonas enjoyed a program of songs, in s tru m ental m usic, recitatio n s, jo k es and o rig in al stories on F rid a y evening. T hen followed a business session in w hich E llen Beall was elected to fill out the term as cheer leader, w hich was left vacant by Josephine C orbett. Reliance On F rid a y , Ja n u ary 6, 1921, th e R eliance Society assem bled as u sual. W illie M inthorn was adm itted as a new m em ber. T h e com m ittees for th e com ing open session were appointed. Jones Spencer gave some local jokes and C harles Moon spoke on “ My C h rist mas V ac atio n .” A fter a sh o rt talk by the advisor, and some songs, th e house ad jo u rn ed to give th e tim e to th e ch aracters in th e play, w hich has been po st poned to T h u rsd ay evening, Ja n u a ry 20. N onpareil T h e N onpareils had an in te re stin g m eeting Jan u ary 7, 1921. A fter roll call and th e tran sactio n of b u si ness a volunteer program was called for by the P resid en t. V ictoria Sansaver read an in terestin g new spaper article about M r. Ira S. Loos; M argaret Lew is gave a talk on D ’A nnunzio. T h is was follow ed by an in stru m e n ta l d u e t by N ancy M atthison and T heresa G ua. U in tah K irk gave some clever riddles. M aude P o tts and Rebecca C arp en ter enlivened the m eeting w ith some “ ja z z ” songs. Effie D avis gave a few snappy jokes. T h e rem ain d er of the eveuing w as spent in practicing yells and songs. E xcelsior T h e m em bers of the E xcelsior Society m et in th eir usual hall on F riday evening. T h e S ecretary called tiie roll and each m em ber responded w ith a q u o tatio n . A fter th e old and new business was tran sacted the election of officers took place. We are glad to have th e new coal bin, to th e appearance of the back yard. w hich adds P lans are being made for en larg in g the dom estic science k itch en , w hich will add to th e efficiency in teach in g th e various classes. T h e Sophom ore girls reg ret th a t the ten w eeks’ d e tail in dom estic science w ork is so near the end, because they are interested and d elight in the in stru ctio n of Mrs. Brickell. T h e g u est cham bers in the dom estic science b u ild in g are being im proved w ith a finish of w hite enam el on the fu rn itu re . T h is will add greatly to the d a in ti ness of these room s. O ur dining-room fu rn itu re , too, is to be likew ise treated. Y . M . A N D Y . W . C. A . N O T E S T h e Y . M. C. A. held a m eeting in M itchell H all on S u nday evening, and d u rin g th e evening the 4th article taken from “ The M anhood of the M aster” was discussed. T h is article was “ T he M aster’s L oyalty to H is C a u se .” T here w ere several good ta lk sg iv e n by different m em bers. A fter the progtam the m em bers had a rare tre a t in a talk given by Rev. Seeley of P o rtland who spoke on T h e C onsecration of Jesus C hrist. Rev. S eeley’s m essage was app reci ated by all who heard it. T he Y would like n othing b etter thau to have Rev. Seeley visit them again soon. S E N IO R N O T E S T h e reading of “ As Y ou L ike I t ” is the classic w ork for the present and we thin k we like it very well. W e are a little w orried about Beulah W h ite. W hy d o e sn ’t she come back from her C hristm as vacation? Down to defeat at the h ands of th e Sophies wras the fate of the senior g irls ’ basketball team on S aturday. Too m uch dinner? C o n struction dresses made ju st as we w ish— th a t’s the dom estic art w ork now and we girls a r t all in tensely interested.
