However, bear in mind that we are to be—we have no “ say” in that matter. W hat we are to be, what we will to be, is something in which all of us may have a voice and it is just as important a problem as that given in the opening sentence. If any of us ever become saints it will be by our own deeds. These are the means by which all of us must climb—by our deeds we are exalted. Alas! it is also true that by our deeds we are condemned. Having become cognizant of these truths, who among us will desire to so act that we are nothing more or less than a 50-50 person—a person who who is neither good nor bad? A 50-50 person will not cut much of a figure anywhere. When you average below the 50-50 point there is m ighty little “ possibility” to you unless you pull yourself together, pass some good, strong resolutions and begin without delay to carry them out. There is no reason for any of you to think your case hopeless. Bear in mind your case is in your own hands.
