AFTERNO O N GAM ES A t 2:30 p. m. the galleries and platform in th e gym were over-crow ded w ith people to w itness th e first public gam e of basketball for th is season. A picked team from Brewer H all played a like one from M itchell H all. E n th u siasm was ram p an t. T h e gam e was won by Brewer H all. SCHOOL SO C IA L T h e social held C hristm as n ig h t in th e gym was largely atten d ed by visitors an d stu d e n ts and rarely have our people enjoyed them selves b etter. A fine sp irit prevailed. IN S P E C T IO N B Y A L U M N I A N D S E N I O R S A v isit was m ade by th e A lum ni and Seniors to all of th e b u ild in g s on W ednesday m o rn in g . E very d e p artm en t w as in spick and span o rder. T h e v isito rs w ere especially interested and the en tire p a rty enjoyed th e inspection. T h ere w ere tw o basketball gam es d u rin g the after noon, one played by team s of g irls from W in o n a and M cBride H alls, w hich was won by M cBride, an d the other by boys from Brew er H all and th e class of ’16, won by the class of ’16. R E C E P T IO N A T M IT C H E L L H A L L T h e young men gave a recep tio n on W ednesday evening to the you n g ladies of M cBride H all, to g eth er w ith special guests from W in o n a an d Brew er, and a num ber of the faculty. T h e b u ild in g w as b eau tifu lly decorated for the occasion. L ig h t refresh m en ts were served in th e read in g room as well as in p ractically all th e room s. T h e young men m ade sp len d id hosts and gave every effort tow ard properly e n te rta in in g the 125 y o u n g ladies. T h is reception was a success. A L U M N I A N D S E N I O R S ’ M E E T IN G A feature of the week was the A lu m n i program on T h u rsd ay evening, w hich was presided over by R eggie D ow nie, p resident. Speeches wrere m ade by S u p er in ten d en t H all, M r. Jerry M eeker, M r. Silas M oon, M r. F ra n k Johnson and th e president. A m usical pro g ram , consisting of songs by the m ale q u artet,C ly d e F ields and R ussell A dam s, and a cornet solo by F ra n k P eratro vich, added to th e ev en in g ’s pleasure, All of th e talk s w ere good and especially so was th a t of M r. Downie, in his closing rem arks. T H E “H I K E ” T h e v isitin g m em bers of the A lum ni and Seniors took a long “ h ik e ’ ’ on T h u rsd ay m o rn in g . T h e a fte r noon w as spent w itnessing a gam e of basketball be tw een th e ‘varsity and crack Brewer H all team . T h e m idgets also lined up and gave an ex h ib itio n of th e ir powers. BASK ETBALL T h e m ost hotly contested basketball gam es of th e week took place on F rid ay afternoon, w hen th e Mc Bride H all team of girls defeated the W inona H all g irls by a score of 14 to 6, and the Brew er H all officers defeated th e M itchell H all officers, score 16 to 15. T hese tw o gam es were fast and snappy and kept th e crow d w orked up to a high p itch th ro u g h o u t. m cb rid e h a l l e n t e r t a in s T h e y o ung ladies of M cBride gave a reception on F rid a y evening in th eir building to M itchell H all boys and invited guests from Brew er and W inona. T h e b u ilding w’as in gala holiday attire and th e room s had th e artistic touch th a t only you n g ladies know how to give. One of the pleasing features of th e evening was th e program . T h e u ku lele club grouped on th e stairw ay gave some clever num bers and w ere com pelled to respond to sev eral encores. T h is b ro u g h t th e crowd tog eth er and th e club as a final encore m arched dow n th e hall lead ing the crowd to the large living room w here a short program consisting of m usic and recitations was given. L ig h t refreshm ents w ere served in th e m usic room . T h e y o ung m en pronounced th e young ladies d e lig h t ful en tertain e rs and th e tim e of d ep a rtu re cam e all too soon. S O C IA L I N G Y M On F rid a y evening from 7 to 9 all of th e y o u n g er stu d en ts who wTere not included in the M cBride recep tion w ere en tertain ed in th e gym by d an c in g and m usic.
