Freer, of K lam ath A gency, visited C hem aw a a couple of days last week and was a g u est of S upt. and M rs. Hall while here. Miss S kipton gave a New Y ea r’s d in n e r last M on day. H er guests were Mrs. A rm stro n g , M rs. T eabo, M iss \ \ hite, Miss M cCauley, M rs. Brew er anti M isses G e rtru d e , E lla, Sara and R uth Brewer. T h e C h ristm as sp irit reigned th ro u g h o u t Chem aw a. In addition to th e decorations reported elsw here in th is issue, the nine class-room s as well as th e hospital w ere tastefu lly attired in holiday attire. M r. W oods rem em bered his large detail of carp en ter boys last S atu rd ay by g iv in g them a treat in th e Shape of “ good e a ts” in his shop. It has been M r. W oods’ custom at C hristm as tim e each year to show his appreciation of the b ay s’ good w ork by serving them a b o u n tifu l repast. M uch frien d ly riv alry was show n in th e basketball gam es d u rin g the holiday week. T h e G ard n ers vs. P rin ters played one afternoon and th e C hem aw a Ju n io rs vs. th e In d ian boys who atten d the the Ju n io r H igh School at Salem played an other afternoon. T h e P r in ters and th e C hem aw a Ju n ic rs were th e w inners. T h e detail boys of M itchell H all were d elightfully e n ttrta in e d by M r. and Mrs. Loos at a d in n er p arty given in th e readingroom of th a t b u ild in g on T h u rsd a y . S upt. and Mrs. H all were invited g u ests. T h e table was artistically decorated and laden w ith th e kind of “ goodies” to please th e small boys. Mrs. Loos is co n stan tly g iv in g pleasure to her detail of boys and they seem to appreciate it very m uch. T he little m en d in g and d a rn in g girls of the prim ary sew ing d ep artm en t were m ade u n u su a lly happy on W ednesday afternoon by th eir sew ing teach er, M rs. C ulbertson. She had prepared a well filled C h rist m as tree and had invited the little girls to visit th e sew ing-room w here they th o u g h t they w ere to m ake doll clothes, and great was th eir delig h t in finding th a t p rep aratio n had been made to d istrib u te presents to each ch ild . S upt. H all was requested by Mrs. C ulbertson to act as S anta Claus in d istrib u tin g the presents. It was a jolly little crowd and a happv one. from Miss M erna B unnell and Miss E lla B ennett, from Salem , were guests of Miss Sara Brewer d u rin g th e past w eek . Mrs. Jaq u in s en tertain ed Miss E velyn W oods, M isses Sarah and R uth Brew er at din n er on W ednes day evening. Patsy B arrett spent several days last week at C he m awa v isiting his brother G eorge as well as renew ing old friendships w ith his form er schoolm ates. Chem aw a was victorious in three basketball gam es on F rid ay n ig h t before C hristm as. T h e first team played the stro n g ath letic club team at S ilverton, w in n in g by a score of 51 to 34. T h e second team journeyed to R ickreall and won from th e tow n team , score 21 to 16. T h e Ju n io r team easily defeated the Salem A th letic Club team w ith a score o f 37 to 9, p laying in our gym nasium . S u p t. and M rs. H all en tertained in th eir hom e on S atu rd ay ev ening about seventy m em bers of th e band, orchestra and choir, together w ith th e cast of the C hristm as H ouse P a r ty ,” accom panied by th e ir in stru cto rs. C lever guessing gam es or contests were prepared and entered into w ith m uch m errim ent and zest. Prizes of m in iatu re m usical in stru m en ts were given to th e successful con testan ts. W hile the guests were being served refreshm ents in relays in the d in in g room , the others gathered in th e music room and sang Chem aw a songs. A verv happv evening was spent bv all M ASQUE CA R N IV A L T h e holiday season w ith its round of pleasure could not have ended in a m ore enjoyable way than w ith the M asque C arnival given in th e gym nasium on New Y e a r’s n ig h t. F u n and frolic reigned suprem e as all Chem aw a attired as clowns, hoboes, cow girls, In d ian m aidens, Japanese geishas, etc., m ingled in jollity . M any clever costum es were in evidence and we feel th a t all are to be congratulated on the great success of th e evening. M r. Brown and his orchestra furnished the m usic.
