Community Center for the Performing Arts, known as the WOW Hall (because of its former ownership by the Woodsmen of the World), has a beautiful wood dance floor and all ages are welcome. The Factory is actually a converted fac tory with lots of space, a huge wood dance floor, a very large, antique wooden bar, other antique furniture. Coffee Concert Series Beginning in mid-October, the Eugene Guitar Association and Allann Brothers Coffee Com pany will present a series of monthly guitar concerts at the Beanery, which is located at 790 E. 14th Ave., in Eugene. The Coffee Concert Series will showcase local and regional gui tarists in an intimate setting, be ginning October 16 with interna tionally acclaimed classical gui tarist Neill Archer Roan. The Beanery, Eugene’s newest coffee house, located at the former site of the Homefried Truck Stop, is offering limited seating for the series of eight concerts, and series tickets are now available at the coffee house and at Balladeer Music, in the Fifth Street Public Market. November’s concert will fea ture Paul Chasman on acoustic steel string guitar. In December, the classical guitar duo of Dan Compton and Brian Wagner will perform works by Villa-Lobos, Vivaldi, and Mozart. All the concerts occur on Sun day evenings, with doors open ing at 7:30 and music begin ning at 8 p.m. Each performance will offer an hour of music with a twenty-minute intermission, at which time patrons may order coffee drinks and pastries. Don Latarski and Kevin Deitz will be featured in January. Deitz’s string bass will accom pany Latarski’s electric classical guitar in interpretations of clas sical masterpieces with a jazz in fluence. February’s concert will offer another duo, David Case and Pam Birrell, playing classical guitar and flute. Case and Birrell will play music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary times. James Kline will perform in March on classical guitar with an emphasis on works by Spanish masters. And in April, guitarist Gregory Field will offer an even ing of traditional Celtic music. Gary Hagberg will close the concert series in May with his jazz guitar improvisations.
