The cost is $50 (discount for returning students). It is held at Lincoln School, 650 W 12th. Call 688-4270 for more infor mation. The EMU Crafts Center (UO) begins its winter crafts workshops. Several different photography, woodworking, ceramics, stained glass and jewelry classes are of fered, as well as weaving, spinning and dying, quilting, basketry, felt making, drawing, paper crafts, calligraphy, picture-framing, bike repair, silkscreen and more. Chil dren's workshops are offered in ceramics, woodworking, drawing and bike repair. The Craft Center has workspace and tools in these areas. It's a great place to learn a skill. Call 686-4361 for more information. Registration continuies for Jazz: Then Til Now, a 3 credit course (UO) open to the community also. It is taught in an informal style by Carl Woideck of KLCC-FM. SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) offers free consultation and seminars on all phases of busi ness management to new and esta blished businesses. They offer ad vice on such things as cash flow, marketing, setting up a new business, and obtaining SBA (Small Business Administration) loans. SCORE members are volun teers, coming from a wide variety of business backgrounds with many years of personal experience. Their office is in the Far West Federal Savings Building, 96 E Broadway, in Eugene. They're there Mon-Fri, 10 am-noon, and will also return phone calls that come in at other times. The Eating Slim Weight Control Program is a new scientifically tested program. It consists of 16 one-hour classes spread over 20 weeks. Classes aid participants to relearn eating habits and develop an individualized weight control plan in a small group setting. It starts Jan 31 and costs $55. What do you want to be when you grow up? is the title of Shelly Lonnquist's class. It lasts for 9 weeks and is designed to reveal and explore of the real you. A beginning non-smoking class will take place on Tuesday even ings beginning Jan 25. Also, a sup port group for ex-smokers who want to stay off cigarettes will meet Thursday evenings beginning Jan 27. Cost is $35. Emphasis is on group participation to find what works best for you and to provide support to maintain this not-so easy endeavor. Additional classes can be scheduled at other times. Registration for a hands-on solar electricity workshop oriented to ward actual construction of a small photovoltaic (PV) panel ends on Jan 22. All tools and materials will be provided. A series of sessions on nutrition for pregnant women sponsored by the UO Nutrition Counseling Research Program is forming now. The series will be offered in three one hour sessions over a six-week period and will be limited to 6-10 participants so that individual at tention may be given. They will focus on the nutrients that a preg nant woman may be deficient in and that are most important for a healthy mother and baby. The day-long । event is geared for people who share a common concern for the I needs of Lane County young peo- I pie. Participants will pool ideas and available resources, choose from a borad spectrum of panel presentations and attempt to iden tify and facilitate access to the in dividuals and groups willing to help Lane County youth. Organ izational sponsors are sought so that the $10 registration fee may be waived in some cases. The fee covers lunch and materials to be distributed.
