Allan Winkler, UO historian, dis cusses “20th Century America and the Impact of War” at 8 pm at the Eugene Conference Center adjacent to the Hilton Hotel, 7th and Oak. He will evaluate the homefront response to various wars, including the fluctuations in popular support. Free. State Capitol hearing on Dept, of Human Resources request to require parents receiving public assistance who have a 12 month old or older child to participate in the JOBS pro gram in order to remain eligible for assistance. A second proposal would cause all public assistance recipients failing to comply with the JOBS pro gram to lose food stamp assistance. Votes on these proposals will take place on Friday. Concert Music Oregon Piano Quartet will play works by Gabriel Faure and Johan nes Brahms at 8 pm in Beall Concert Hall, University of Oregon. Children's Choral Festival will gather some 2,500 grade school children from 41 Oregon schools at the Hult Center for the Per forming arts.
