Donations of art in any media are acceptable, except for large-sized quilts. Small wall-hanging quilts are acceptable. “We made a little over $2,000 last year,” said Linda Davis, chair of the art sale for FOSL. “Finding a good home for good art is important,” Davis said. But just as impor- tant is raising funds for the library. All purchases must be made by cash or check, pay- able to FOSL. The value of donations is tax-deductible. This annual event is a good place to get bargains on some very high-quality art pieces. This is a once-a-year pop- up art sale, a chance to depop- ulate your overly filled walls, the art in the attic, the painting your mother loved (but you don’t). It’s also a chance to find a perfect piece of artwork that’s still in “just fine” condition, to fill that blank spot in your vacation or rental home. “Last year, I found an abso- lutely lovely small painting by Sisters Artist Pam Jersey Bird,” said Helen Schmidling, manager of Sisters Gallery & Frame Shop. “I’ve always loved Pam’s art, but I never could afford one. I just love this very special painting.” Pam Bird, one of Sisters’ most beloved artists, passed away on December 7 last year. Donations may be made contingent on resale, but donors should advise volun- teers of this contingency. If River Simplicity by Pam Jersey Bird.
