10 Wednesday, June 6, 2018 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Workshop Dance academy to stage their biggest show ever outlines long-term care issues More people will one day need long-term care (LTC) services at home in assisted living or in a nurs- ing home—and the cost for care is on the rise. Yet many of us stop short of properly preparing for future needs. Why? According to Mid- Oregon Credit Union, it’s partly because we’re con- fused by the myths surround- ing long-term care prod- ucts and services. Learn the most common myths about long-term care at a compli- mentary workshop, Seven Myths of Long-Term Care, on Thursday, June 14, 6 p.m. at the Sisters Library, offered by Mid-Oregon Financial Services, a divi- sion of Mid-Oregon Credit Union. The workshop will out- line the seven most common myths consumers have about long-term care services, including: • A government program will take care of me. • I can save the money I’ll need for LTC services. • Only old people need LTC services. • I don’t need separate LTC protection because I have health insurance. • LTC protection pays for nursing home care only. • I can’t afford LTC insurance. • We don’t need LTC pro- tection because we have each other. The presenter for this workshop will be Kevin Riley, regional sales direc- tor for OneAmerica, and is free and open to the public. The Sisters Library is located at 110 N. Cedar St. in Sisters. Call 541- 382-1795 or email info@ midoregon.com to reserve your seat. Light refreshments will be served. The Sisters Dance Academy will be putting on their biggest and best show ever on Saturday, June 16. This year ’s theme is “Under the Big Top,” the creation of Lonnie Liddell, owner and director of the Sisters Dance Academy. She determines her themes a year in advance and since landing upon the theme for this year, she reports, the creative juices have been flowing. With a team of six other teachers and choreographers, the dance academy has been working on ideas, costum- ing and choreography for this show since January. The dancers range from age three to 18 and will charm the audi- ence in many styles of dance including, ballet, jazz, con- temporary, hip hop, and tap. “Not only will the audience be dazzled by the dancing, but they will be surprisingly delighted in all of the vari- ous circus acts that will be on display,” Liddell says. “From exotic animals to clowns, tight-rope walkers to illusion- ists, this show is sure to enter- tain!
