Hunter’s Education Class For a hunter’s education class beginning Tuesday, February 6, register online at odfw.com (hunting–resources–education). Habitat Gingerbread Trail Follow the Sisters Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread Trail! You may vote for your favorite gingerbread house through Tuesday, January 2 by placing a donation in the wooden house at each location. Maps of the 21 participating businesses are at the Chamber, Habitat Thrift Store & ReStore, and each business. All funds collected will go toward building homes for families in Sisters. For more information call 541-549-1193. Volunteer with Habitat There are lots of ways you can help Sisters Habitat for Humanity. The ReStore can use help processing donations, along with another person to help with truck pickup and deliveries Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Thrift Store currently seeks more cashiers, plus a volunteer in the housewares dept. BBR RFPD Meeting Canceled The Board of Directors of the Black Butte Ranch RFPD has canceled the December board meeting. Senior Luncheons and More Sisters-area seniors are invited to join others at the Sisters Senior Luncheon! Lunch is served every Tuesday at noon at Sisters Community Church with a $3.50 suggested donation for those over 60. The espresso hour runs 11 a.m. to noon, and BINGO is played after lunch until 2:30 p.m. A free blood pressure clinic is offered the second Tuesday of the month, 11 a.m. to noon. Questions? Annual Chili Feed for Vets Ronnie and Susie Frigulti present their 5th annual free chili feed for veterans and their families on Saturday, January 20 from noon to 3 p.m. at Sisters Community Church. Boy Scouts Recycle Trees Local Boy Scout troops will collect and recycle Christmas trees December 30-31 and January 7. A donation of at least $8 is requested; all funds go directly to troops for their activities and service projects, and to replace worn-out equipment. Trees should be cleaned of all decorations and placed by the street. Place checks (to “Boy Scouts of America” or as specifi ed by fl yers in your area) in a plastic bag and secure it to the tree. Hours of operation will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The offi ce is on the main fl oor, to the right. Please note that visiting dogs must be leashed at all times. Council Meeting Canceled Due to the holidays, the Sisters City Council has canceled the Wednesday, December 27 workshop and regular meeting. The next council meeting will be on Wednesday, January 10. For additional information call City Hall at 541-549-6022. Volunteer monitors are needed for the 5 p.m.-to-midnight shift at Sisters Cold Weather Shelter. Duties include checking in guests, helping with dinner and cleanup, and following the established evening checklist. There are two monitors per shift and training is provided.
