Outlaws post upset victory over Summit By Rongi Yost Correspondent The Outlaws defeated the Summit Storm 57-52 in over- time at home on Tuesday, December 12. It was a dramatic game, tight all the way, and full of lead changes. The Outlaws played a good game against the tough Storm squad. At the close of the first quarter, Summit held a two- point lead, with a score of 9-7. In the second period, Sisters surged to a 20-14 advantage, but the Storm hit two big three-pointers to tie the game 20-20 at the half. It was an even contest until the end of the third quarter. Sisters got sloppy, suffered a few turnovers, and early in the fourth, Summit was on top 43-35. Sisters kept at it, and made it a close game. The Outlaws were down 43-40 when Jack Berg hit a three to tie the game 43-43, with just 10 seconds left on the clock. Regulation play ended in a tie, and the game went into overtime. The lead shifted back and forth until the end. Sisters was down by one with 30 seconds left, when Noah Richards hit a lay-up on a pass from Zach Anderson, and the Outlaws regained the lead at 52-50. The Storm were able to score two more points, but Sisters hit five free-throws at the end and recorded the win. Four Outlaws finished the game in double digits. Richards led the way with 17 points, followed by Anderson who posted 16. Berg recorded 14 points and Isaiah Rush added 10. “Brad Eagan and Austin Lake didn’t get points on the scoreboard, but were big con- tributors in the game,” said Coach David Godfrey. “Brad played a nice floor game, and Austin did a nice job defend- ing and rebounding. “We played with a lot of composure and poise. We made some big stops, and big shots that put us in position to win the game,” added Godfrey. “And, we only played with six kids (Richards, Anderson, Berg, Rush, Eagan, and Lake).” PHOTO BY OUTLAWS PHOTOGRAPHY Zach Anderson led the Outlaws in their upset victory over Summit. Bend considers beautification along river BEND (AP) — Officials are considering a $7.3 million beautification project along the Deschutes River. The Bulletin reports that work includes reconstruct- ing the crumbling bank of the river in Drake and Pacific parks. Officials say they want to replace old rock and concrete walls with a greener, more natural-looking bank. The plan also calls for extending a beach where river floaters get out and building a path to a new area where floaters can get a ride from a shuttle service. Plans also call for vegetation that could limit geese from exiting the water. www.NuggetNews.com CUSTOM HOMES • RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PROJECTS John P.
