8 Wednesday, October 12, 2016 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Outlaws continue winning streak By Rongi Yost Correspondent The Outlaws blanked the Sutherlin Bulldogs 10-0 at home in Sisters on Thursday, October 6. Sisters continued their domination of league opponents and remains unde- feated on the season. Sisters started their scor- ing in the first minute of the game when Keaton Green received a cross in the air from Sean Willitts and vol- leyed it over the keeper for the goal. In the sixth min- ute, the Outlaws struck again when Green hit a low hard cross from the right side to Jude Kokesh-Carhart, who chipped it over the keeper for the score. Eleven minutes later, Alec Gannon took a pass from Green on a 45 from the right side for a tap-in goal. Willitts ran the ball into the goal at the 24-minute mark, and four minutes later, Malachy Sundstrom received a pass, beat a defender, and struck a solid ball to the left corner from 15 yards out. Sisters closed out the first-half scoring in the 32nd minute. Coach Rob Jensen said, “Colby (Simeral) took a direct kick from right behind the half next to the Outlaws bench. I told him to put it right behind #14 at the 18-yard line so that Malachy (Sundstrom) could finish it. He was very coachable and Malachy scored.” At the half, the Outlaws were on top 6-0. The long bus ride and the rainy weather conditions proved more than the Outlaws could handle. Sutherlin scored in the first five minutes of the con- test. Keeper Charlotte Barton blocked a one-on-one goal, and when the shot bounced off Barton, another Bulldog forward was there to kick it into the goal. The Bulldogs scored their final goal at the start of the second half. I think this is the best the girls have played for an away game. “We will continue to work on the little things that will help make more goals hap- pen. This year we’ve had a great competitive league. Every win is deserved and earned. The Lady Outlaws have not given up, and they work extremely hard every day. In the 54th minute, Gannon chipped the ball to the far post for a Sundstrom header-goal. Four minutes later, Sundstrom took the cor- ner kick and Green headed it to the keeper. The keeper deflected it back to Green, who then headed it into the net and pushed the Outlaws to a 9-0 advantage. Sisters’ final goal came with 15 minutes left in the game. Jensen told The Nugget that Alec Gannon and Keaton Green were spark-plugs for the team throughout the contest. Of the game Jensen said, “The boys are all doing well, and they are persevering through injuries and illness. The team did a great job focusing on improving each other.” The Outlaws are currently 6-0 in league and 8-2 overall. Sisters was to play at Sweet Home on Tuesday, October 11.
