It’s not just about fielding an emergency call and dispatching the appropriate response. He said that 50 percent of the work is communicating with responders and managing multiple calls on the same incident. When there is a house fire, there will be multiple calls, and “until they (the public) see responders on the scene, they keep calling.” 9-1-1 operators also must communicate with responders about potential hazards on the scene of an incident. “A big part of our role is keeping responders safe with all the information,” Reinke said. The 9-1-1 system also captures data in order to track response times and the locations of incidents. Reinke said that, if voters approve it, the permanent district will serve the needs of the area for many years to come. “We are anticipating that what we are asking for will serve us into the 2030s and beyond,” he said. The Outlaws failed to score a run and managed a total of eight hits in three losses to the state’s No. 5 and No. 16 teams, losing twice, 17-0, to Sweet Home and once, 16-0, to Elmira. In the opening loss to Sweet Home, the Outlaws gave up 10 runs in the third. In the second game, Sweet Home scored three in the first, five in the second and four each in the third and fourth as the game was also called due to the 10-run rule. I’m very impressed with how far this young team has come.” Leading the Outlaws at the plate were Smith with a double and a single, and McIntosh with a double. Up next for the Outlaws was a May 2 game versus Elmira, followed by Wednesday and Friday games against Junction City. Sisters will close out the season at home with a double-header against Sutherlin on May 13. Elmira, at 9-1, leads Sweet Home by one game (8-2) in the Sky-Em.
