Wednesday, April 6, 2016 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon 21 Sisters salutes... • Michelle Deaderick wrote: We at Hood Avenue Art were so happy to host such great art from our Sisters High School artists. The people’s choice awards went to Sydney Rawlins for 3D and Tessa O’Hern for 2D. The Sisters Art Association gave two $50 gift certifi- cates to Alpenhimmel for the artists to use for art supplies. • Karen Kassy wrote: A big thank-you to The Fly Fisher ’s Place, Jeff and Tina Perin, plus 10 more, who flew nearly 9,000 miles to the impover- ished Christmas Island and brought clothing and school supplies. It could have been just a fishing trip, but they made it into a time of sharing. • Aubrey Lynn Denzer wrote: Such a beautiful vision and determined diligence by our own Ashley and Aaron Okura, we saw a transforma- tion and much loved revival of our own hometown’s Sisters Saloon. Our Sisters hearts blew up with the grand re- opening and renovation. The hospitality offered by this authentic and clas- sic Western hotel is a place where families can come together. Sisters Saloon and Ranch Grill brings back the true spirit of Sisters. Our entire town, in one effort, came together in sup- port: Costumes from our Miss Sew It All (Marsha Mar), dancers from the Central Oregon School of Ballet, plus charity rehearsal space provided by Tate and Rebekah at the Sisters Athletic Club! We even had our local piano man Timothy Draxler show off his talent on a locally provided upright piano. It was a gathering of elated Sisters alumni never before seen. I grew up with Ashley (Reed) Okura here in Sisters, carpooling to ballet. To have her give me the opportunity to come back to my home- town, full circle and perform for her and see the camara- derie of our town is enough to keep me smiling forever. The love and hospitality shown by this town is why we all just can’t help but keep coming back. Thank you! photo provIDED sydney Rawlins received the people’s choice award for 3D.
