The north western mills wero'"rust mad" today, and bought wheat on the Chicago mar ket as if a famine was threatened. Minneapolis, St. Louis and other points Crashed Into Street Car. Chicago. Aug. 17. Tho Chicago and Great Western engine crashed info a leaded electric car and two trailers bound for tho Hawthorne race track at 1:30 o'clock p. m. Eight were killed, and 1C Injured while the cars were de molished.. The crash occurrod at 48th street and Colorado avenue. The train was tho Milwaukee express and struck the middle trailer. The flagman signalled the motorman to stop buo he couldn't control tho biakos. Tho motor man was killed and two conductors were arrested. Tho neighboring police sta tions wore notified and ambulances woro rushed to the scene. Three of tho dead aro women. Coal Yards Burning. Che Foo, Aug. 17. A report from Port Arthur says that the Japanese havo captured a position at Pallchuang three miles from tho fortress.
