Dunn as county jrnlgo load to an oxainination of his previous roportl. .Jutlc Dunn was elot'tod ty .iutliro during tho yoars t nnos no oont foiled tlio county court, ronuuissioner Joshua Patterson working in harmony with him. Tho amount of money spent on county roads' during tho four yoars of .Judge Dunn's term totaled $lfS,0bT. only a little more than tho county spent in 1910 and about half that was spent in 1911. During the four years of Judge Dunn's incumbency, the county was called upon to pay the stale, as state taxes, $119,807, only a trifle more for the entire four years than .Jackson county is called upon Practically no bridges were bunt during Dunns re gime. Xo macadamized roads were constructed. The road building was confined to dumping cobblestones and gravel in the center of the highway. The nearest approach to crushed rock was broken cobblestones. Naturally, with this policy of inaction, aud with light state taxes, county taxes wore lighter than they are now, with excessive road expenditures and excessive state taxes, due to legislative appropriations. No attempt was ever made by .Judge Dunn to build a scientific road, lie is on record as opposed to such would not ovon favor a mile of sample highway to be con structed under the National Good Roads Association aus pices. .Judge "Dunn is opposed to road bonds, voted against the bond issue, and does not favor this- means, the only prac tical solution of the road problem. Judge Dunn is honest and economical, lie is also ex tremely narrow, provincial, and vindictive, lie is and always has been, a reactionary has played no part in the growth and development of the county. The last man in the world to lend a progressive county in what should be the period of its greatest expansion. lEBECCrVWILlBE HERE APRIL 4 "Uebeeca off Sunnvbrook Farm," tho newet of New Haitian d dramas and the most charming in that it presents pictures of New Knglnnd ehildroti as well as her grown folk, will be feeii at the theater Tliursday night, April 4th. where Klaw Sr Kr langer's s;Ieudid company will play a short CHgagemout. 'S L In explanation of his withdrawal of his candidacy for county assesor, It. A. Gregory states: "I have previously registered as a republican and tho records will so show. However, like thousand; of republicans I had decided to vote for AVilson or some other progressive democrat rather than Taft, and so registered as a doinoerat. When Roosevelt announced himself as a candidate, I hunted up Mr. Singler aud asked him to change my registra tion from democrat to republican, lie amnired me that he would do so, aud if be did not I will try aud see that it is done. All this trangpired several days before I had any thought of en tering my name as a candidate for assuiasor. I will say that :ny reason for withdrawing wa that 1 consider my business worth more to me than the oflicc." TO TRY NEW FASHIONS ON TROLLEY CUR STEPS XKW YORK', March 27.
