The Grants Pass tennis club team -won tho first tennis tournament this year by a comfortnble margin, win iiing men's singles from Medford and Talent, men's doubles from Mcdford and mixed doubles from Medford and ! Jacksonville. Jacksonville won from Talent in , man's singles and Medford won from ' Talent in men's doubles. A number ef events were cancelled as tho teams from Ashland failed to appear, and ike ladies' evnts were cancelled on account of a drouth of players. Considerable interest is being man ifested in this tournament and the proppect is bright for a series of good tournaments this year. The teams competing today were composed of the following players: Grants Pass Misses McLean and "Bartlett, Messrs. Ager, Thurber and Toss. Jacksonville Miss Thompson and Mr. Wells. Medford Miss Not norland and Messrs. Rothema), Campbell, Eriek- son, Beeson and Johnson. Tho po lice are working today on a theory "that fire which destroyed a ware house containing 2,000 tons of rais ins in this city last night was of in cendiary origin. There have been several incendiary fires in Fresno re cently. It is estimated the loss in raisins in the fire was $100,000. The stock was owned by several Pacific Coast packing companies. National.
