Wednesday, April 29, ic,o$ THE SUMPTER MINER 1? ACCIDENTALLY KILLED. John Wilkinson Loses His Life at Golconda Sunday. John Wilkinsou, a miuor employed at the Golcoudu, was accidently killed early Sunday morning while being raised in the cago from tho i!00 foot level to tbo surface. When the cage came up, only his cap was in it, and his mangled remains wore found on the 500 foot level, bis body having dropped a distanco of over 300 feet. Wilkinson and a companion wont to work at seven o'clock Sunday morning breaking ore on tho 200 fot levol. Somo shots tired the provious shift had loosonod tho dirt and rock, and Wilkinson voluntorod to go to tho surfaco aftor somo timbers, flo had complained of not feeling well. Tho supposition is that his head came in contact with tho shaft as ho was being hoisted. County Coroner Snow, of Baker City, hold au inquest at tho nil no Mouday afternoon, and tho verdict rendered by tho jury was in effect that tho deceased camo to his death from unknown causos whllo being raised from tho 200 foot lovol to tho surfaco at tho Uolcouda mine. Tho deceased was .12 years old and unmarried. Ho was a Caundiuu by birth, but has a brother living at Higboo, Missouri, where tho romulus woro sent yestorduy uftornoou for burial. Ho was a Mason, a K. of P. and a mombor of tho Minor's Union, which orders turned out ami escorted the romulus from Caso's undertaking parlors to tho train. THE ALAMO WELL DEVELOPED.
