Bdard Completes Work and Final Decision Will Be Made in Olyaipia Soon Wullu Wulla, Nov. 2. Tbe investi KHtion of the affairs at the state poui tontiury by the state board of control upon the recommendation of Governor Mead closed yesterday and the con sensus of opinion is that Warden Eees has been fully vindicated of each and every charge in the oomplaiut. Those who hoard the evideuoe from begin ning to end are a unit in the opinion that the warden's political onouiios made a dismal and utter failure. Several of the charges were dis missed by the board during the trial and those in charge of the prosecu tion practically abandoned every allogatiou except the one in relation to the alleged illegal registration of the penitentiary guards last spring. On this point they also failed to pro duce the evidence they anticipated. The board of control adjourned shortly aftor uoou aud announced that they would convene again within a few days iu Olyiupia aud go over the transcript of the evidence aud an nounce their findings withiu a short time. c Aside from the illegal registration the only charge referred to yesterday, was that of the warden '8 responsibil ity for the typhoid fover epidemic at the penitentiary this year. Iu o'ttorf to verify the ropoits sent to tho board of control for the mouths of May and June Dr. Y. C. Blu lock, former physi cian ut the pen, was recalled. He stated be thought it was not his duty to take the matter up with the board and for that reusou had said nothing regarding his fears of au epidemio iu his inouthly reports. GETS TWO YEARS. Girl Hora.tht.f llomtrd of Her K.rkle Myrtle Tipton, the Bixteen year old girl horsethief who spout last Sun day night iu tho Walla Walla county jail, wiil soon arrive iu the city again, says the Walla Walla Union, but she will the next time be iu charge of tbe traveling guards of the penitentiary and will begin the serving of a two year senteuce imposed yesterday by the superior court of Whitman coun ty. The crime for whioh she will serve time is. for bunging stolen property into tbe stato, consisting of three head of horses, a hack and harness, whioh she stolo from some Indians of the Coenr d'Alene reservation on or about the 10th of Ootober, and dis posed of them to a liveryman in St. John for $225. While in the Walla Walla county jail she acknowledged the crime and also plead guilty iu the superior court of Whitman county when returned there ou Monday. She refused to have an attorney, and boasted that she was too old to send to the reform school. ' Jed Blair, Miner. Jed A. Blair, an old pioneer of the northwest, died Tuesday aight of heart failure at his home iu Baker City. Jed Blair was born iu Vermont November 29, 1833. His parents moved to Illinois when he was still a child and he lived in that state until he was 19, wheu he crossed tbe plains to California. After spending many years prospecting iu different parts of the west he fluully discovered a placer miue iu Mormon Basin, near Baker City, iu 1863. He lived there until last year, when he Bold his miue to a friend tor 175,000 aud moved to Baker City, where he lived until his death. Cannot Break a Contract. Tho Washington state school super iuteudeut has fowarded to all school superintendents a decision of his office iu which he sustaius the revocation of a certificate of a teacher because the latter did not comply with her contract. The case in point was that of Miss Anna Hannebohl, a teacher who had contracted to teach a nine months' term iu a district iu Suoho mish county, aud after teaching for a short time abandoned tho school. The iuforenoelo lie diawu is that a teacher who abandons one school after the contract is sigued for a place of higher salary stands au excellent chance of losing his certificate. Enforcing the Game Law- State Uanie Warden J. W. Baker is at Baker City to give his personal supervision to the prosecution of a few men for soiling ducks this fall. The new liceuse law has brought iu about $13,000 already this year, and the law will be olosely enforced. The now law provides that ducks and game birds cannot be sold during any season of the year, but a few dearies were uot acquainted with this uew law aud flooded tho market until the deputy game warden stopped them.
