MOTHER IN BEATEN. BY HCB CHILDREN. Our dear mother, Mrs. Amanda Ely, departed from us in Seattle, Wash., January 27, 1905, at the age of 80 years, eight months and 16 days. She was a devoted mother our best earthly friend and a faithful Christian; a member of the Christian church at Athena, Oregon, her home for many years, and where we have buried her body by the side ot the graves of our dear father, P. Ely, and our sweet spirited sister, Lizzie Ely. The grave of our dear brother, J. F. Ely, is at San Bernardino, California. The loving and faithful soul, or spirit, our real mother, has gone into the great beyond where all are going, and from whence none has ever return ed. She has left four children and three brothers. Two sons, C. M. and G. W. Ely, and one daughter, M. A. Bamford, are residents of Seattle, Wash., and one daughter, Mrs. R. L. Price, resides near Farmington, Wash. Two brothers, F. M. and B. F. Mans field, reside at Athena, Ore., and one brother, T. J. Mansfield, resides in Illinois. ! Mother bas been an invalid for over ten years. A very patient sufferer; never known once to complain or find fault. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their (her) eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor cry ing; neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away." (Rev. 21:4.) "Rejoice ever more." (1st Thess. 5:16. No word that we can say or write, or even our thoughts, can express the full meaning of the word mother. There fore we will only add what our dear sister said of "Heaven;" and let us all think of '.'Mother in Heaven I" SHERIFF'S SALE. Dated this 24th day of January, ITO. T. i. xayior, Sheriff of Umatilla County, Oregon. By C. P. Davis, Deputy. HEAVEN. BY LIZZY ELY, I'm thinking of my home so radiantly bright, Which my eyes in glory shall see, When God upon his throne of light Has passed the laBt judgment on me. It he shall claim me as his own, And give me a place among the blest, Saying, "Faithfully thou my work hast done, Enter now into my rest." 0, the glories of that wonderful land My eyes shall eternally behold, When I shall ait at my Lord's right hand, Or walk the streets of purest gold. Where the streams of living water flow Through meadows ablaze with flowers; Richer than in our gardens grow, And sweeter than brighten our bowers. Where the Tree of Life its wondrous irunyieias, No hunger in that land is known; All the leaves on the tree from sickness shields Those who worship around the throne. Where the fluttering sweep of the snowy wings Of the angels dazzling fair. Keep time to the glorious music that rings, And fills with melody the heavenly air Where the city of precious lewels shines In (Jon s own glorious ligbt; More dazzling far than India's mines, And banished is the shade of night. Where the redeemed the ransomed throng Are robed in raiment white as snow They are saved from the power of wrong, And the perfect love or tioa they know. Where goldon harps are in their hands, Tuned to glorious strains of love; And voices of the shining bands Sing the glad new song above. There I shall meet the friends I've -'known, Who worshiped on earth with me; " Together we'll bow at the great white Throne, When the King in his beauty we see. All fear of parting for ever is o'er, And death no more shall sever; For the friends that meet on that glad shore, Shall live together for ever. The eyes that glow with tender love, Shall weep no more in sadness; The brows immortal crowns above Shall wear where all is gladness. O'er pulseless heart shall folded be no more The hands tliatclanp in greeting there; But palms they'll wave on that fair shore, And with harps in God's praise share. There cheeks no more .shall lose their bloom, No lips forget to smile; Be bid within the silont tomb Even for their dreary little while. But all is joy unspeakably deep, And peace everlasting above; And we shall eternally reap ; The reward of the God who is love. There one deep, grand hymn shall raise, To our God upon bis throne; One glorious, endless song ot praise To him who rules alone. O, none can join that shining throng Who loves not the Savior's voico ; Nor sing in that triumphant song, . And evermore rejoice. 0, that sanctified, glorified holy place, Where God my Hvior is; Where I shall see His glorious face, And dwell in sweetest bliss. ' O, "Beulah Land!", "Our Beautiful Home!" "The Golden City!" "Eden Above!" From the "New Jerusalem" we ne'er shall roam, The home ot infinite love. We call it by many a name that's dear; 'l ani city wuerein is given, All that we love that's beautiful here, But the dearest name is "Heaven." Centerville (Athena) Oregon, Sept 9th, 1880.
