Har- : ney and Malheur counties. I believe in the "Oregon Plan", and would safeguard it against' all possible encroachment of cor-, ruption and machine politics. I believe in the election of U. ' S. Senator by direct vote of the people, and will subscribe to Statement No. 1. ; To my mind, the last legisla-' ture was grossly extravagant in handling public funds. With our state tax levy more than doubling at one bound, I am convinced it is time to call a halt, and if elect ed, I pledge unceasing watchful ness on my part against such un warranted inroads on the State treasury. At this time, I believe a legislator's first and main duty is to detect and block as much bad legislation as possible.letting new legislation, to a great extent, be a secondary consideration. This will be my motto if elected. I believe in and will work for more strict State regulation of public utilities, including enforc ed publicity of their records, to the end that we may have better service and more reasonable and equitable rates.
