An unusual and heavy thunder peal roused up half the town last Sunday: night, and terrified many. The last barge load of rock to bo used this season was dumped off the jetty at Fort Stevens yesterday, and now the work closes for the season. The barges will be towed to winter quarters at Young's river to-day. E. A. Noyos received a dispatch from Portlaad yesterday, via West- gort, informing him that his father, aptain Allan Noyes, was very dan gerously sick. Mr. Noyes immediately chartered the E. N. CooJc and left at 1 p. it. for Portland. There "will be a watch meeting at the Methodist church tonight, the services, consisting of singing, prayer, experience, etc., beginning at eigne o'clock. The services are expected to be participated iu by the different pastors'of the city churches. A short time ago a little girl 11 years old named Cynthia Collins was badly burned at Cathlamet, and brought to this city for treatment. The little sufferer expired at the hos pital last Sunday night, and her re mains go to her parents on the Tele phone, this morning. In the city treasurer's office, jester day there was a balance on hand as follews: general fund, 6,833.26, po lice fund, S3.621.72: street fund, S3. 976.09: bond interest fund. SL153.85; cemetery fund, $469.81; special fund, $1,503.97; total, 17,603.70, now in the treasury. There are outstanding war rants to the amount of $15,000. About $6,000 of the S17,608.70, is applicable to the payment of these warrants, as they are drawn upon the general fund. Little Johnny is having a good streak and is learning a new prayer.
