Market inspector Wray made a big haul of fish yesterday morningr, cap turing several tons. He confiscated sixteen sacks in the Clay street mar ket, fourteen sacks in J. H. Kessing's market, eighteen sacks at 509 Mer chant street, eleven saoks ab518 Mer chant street, four sacks in the OalP forniatnd five sacks in the Bay City market. The total weight of tile seizures aggregated about 13,000 pounds. The fish was mostly salmon, and was shipped down from Tehama county by express. It was caught in the Sacraufento river, and is sick ow ing to the fact that now ie the spawn ing season. The fish in this condi tion float around in the water helpless, and are an easy prey to boys and others, who scoop them up with buckets and -nets. Some of the consignees of the fish were aroused by the seizures', but they did not impede inspector Wray in his work. S. F. Call, 5. Dodge of the Texas and Fort "Worth road said in an interview to-day re garding the lease of the- Fort Worth by the Union pacific, that while it is not definitely arranged just now what way the Union Pacific will take hold of the line, it is decided, defin itely to make this its seaboard route. He also said that the -Union Pacific will build to California in all proba bility, although the enabling act has not been passed by the directory.
