An Anecdote of Lincoln. A- J. Conant, the artist, during some interesting remarks,! lin New York, recently, on "Personal Eem miscences of Abraham Lincoln," related one story which, said he, he bad himself told to Lincoln, and which the latter used on several oc casions, on two of whioh he had been interrupted before he had got to the point, "and" said the artist, "if there was anything which annoyed Mr. Lincoln it was this. It caused him to always remember the man from whom he got the story. The Btory was of a Missouri man who went to a stable to get a horse to take him to a convention to which he was going as a delegate with a hope of nomina tion. The -stable keeper was of a different persuasion, and-gave him a horse which he calculated would break down before he got there. His calculation proved true, and the man lost the nomination. On his return to tho stable the diappo;nted Mis sourian asked the stable-man if he was training that horse for a hearse. The man said he kinder guessed he was." 'Well,' said the man, 'if you are he'll never do it for ho wouldn't get a corpse to the cemetery in time for the resurrection.' This story Lincoln had twice tried to tell, once from the rear of a train, and was car ried away by it before he got to the point, and a second time, when pres ent at a gun testing, when the gnn was fired juBt as he reached the Mia sourian's reply." Ayer's Aguo Cure stimulates the liver and neutralizes the malarial poison in the blood. Warranted to cure. Protection has proved a great boon to the plate glass industry of this country.
