Capt. Scott of the former vessel made the following re re eort: "I left here on tho 28th of March last for Alaskan waters, we cruised among the Choumagin is lands until tho 20th of August. "We brought back a catch of seventy-four sea-otter and fifty-nine fur seals, which is pretty good work for the time." Capt. 'Hagman, who was working in the same waters, brought back the skins of fifty-three sea-otter and fifteen seals. He left that port on February 1st. The skins of the otter are worth over $100 each. The schooners brought reports from the Syloia Hanoy, which had taken 614 seals and twenty-nine ot ters, and from the San Jose, which had caught 683 seals and nine otters. "When they left everything was quiet, and they did not know of any Ameri can schooners that had been chased by the revenue cutters for illicit hunt ing. Captains Scott and Hagman, however, denouueed as the broadest kind of farce the action of the com mander of the Rush in placing prize crews of one man each on English vessels seized for yiegnl sealing. As soon as the cutter leaves, the prize crew is sent below and the vessel goes on with hunting until a full cargo of skins is obtained, when she runs into Victoria and the prize crew is landeQ nud told to go nbout his business.
