The through Denver passenger train that left this city this morning was standing on the track at Humboldt, Nebraskn, when the sonth-bonnd lo cal passenger train from Linooln, in charge of a Reading engineer, dashed into the station at the rate of ten miles an honr. The fireman, conductor and brake man were more or les3 injured. Mr. Edmunds, of Lincoln, was badly bruised and injured internally. A traveling man, whose name ia not yet known, was seriously injured. A TEIU1IBI.E WRECK. Denver, March 9. It ia reported that the we3t-bonnd express train on the Union Pacific, due here at 7 thi3 morning, was wrecked near LaSalle, 75 miles eost of here, at 4 o'clock this morning, by a broken rail. Several passengers were killed and wounded. Aspecial train left here at 10 o'clock, carrying pnysiciaus, stretchers, etc. As the telegraph line is controlled by the railroad comranv. it is imnos- siblo to get any particulars of tho ter rible affair. Potter, vice-president and general manager of the Union Pacific Rail road company, died at Welcker's ho tel at 11:15 this morning, of disease of the heart. A FATAL WRECK. London. Maroh 9. Tho British ship Lanoma, from Lanncerton, Aus tralia, for Londou, with a cargo of wool, has been wrecked near Wey mouth. The captain and eloven of tho crew were drowned. OOAinitAN M1LL3' PLANS. Washington, D. C, March 9. Chairman Mills ia planning a pro gramme which he thinks will cnablo him to hold in lino tho Democrats who are olamoring for changes in the internal revenue system. He pro poses to report two measures, ono a tariff reduction bill, the other an in ternal revenue bill. Ho will report them in the order named, and will insist on having the tariff-reduction bill considered and disposed of, bo fore tho other is taken up. There will be an implied menace in this ar rangement that if tho Democrats, especially the North Carolinians and the Georgians, do not join heartily in the tariff legislation they will not be allowed an opportunity to recon struct the odious internal revenue laws. THE StTLLIVAN MITCHELL AFFAIR. Amieus, France, March 9. Both Sullivan and Mitchell are here, but the gensdarmes and English detec tives aro watching their movements olosely. Plenty of wrangling has marked tho proceedings so far and an announcement that tho fight had been postponed caused no surprise. There seems to bo a general feeling that a quibble will come up and there will be no fight at all. Sullivan's friends say Mitchell is in a wrcfohed condition and would stand no show.
