The finan cial secretary of-India has advised the government of the, discovery of an immense amount of treasure, estimated at over $25,000,000, which had been secreted in the Palace Civalios by the late maha jarah. The treasure had been sunk in pits, under vaults, beneath the Zeenana. The secret was en trusted to a few confidential serv ants. The secretary was present when the treasure was unearthed. After removing the earth to a -depth of six feet, the workmen found great flagstones. Under neath, these several pits were filled to the brim with silver, chielly freshly coined rupees. In each pit vtas a plate recording .. the amount of treasure, and the names of officials who assisted in secret ing it. The Indian government has taken the hoard as a loan from the mahajarah. Native papers are protesting against this action. They say, had the mahajarah been an adult, instead of under a re gency controlled by the govern ment, he never would have in vested hi whole wealth in Indian securities. A question will be raised in parliament as to whether "investment" may not be another name for seizure. DR. PARDEE'S :o. E5 3!: IB 33 1ST , (The Only Beliable Blood Purifier.)
