Ho wants to know the location of the precious metal, tho amount of production, the manner of petting it out, and all other pertinent information. There is a very large demand for platin um in New York at this time, and the mineral is worth about as much in the market as gold say $16 to $17 au ounce. One man at Coos bay. secured about fifteen pounds and this has been sent to Prof. Day. There is any quantity of platinum in Coos and Curry counties, but like the gold dust so often mentioned, is mixed with black sand on river banks and tho ocean l)each, and costs as much as it is worth to separate it. Platinum is also found in some places on the banks of the McKenzie, mixed with sand. Several nuggets of mineral have been found in tho Granite creek district in British Columbia, a few miles north of Colville, and speci mens which were sent to Prof. Day were pronounced first-class. Should tho platinum" be found in considerable quantities in this district, the finder, of a verity, will have struck a gold mine.
