The Southern .Pacific company an nounces the reduction of the dis tance of California & Oregon stag ing to fifty miles. Pullman sleep ers are run between Redding and Montague. The superintendent of the Oregon division of the Southern Pacific company system r ports seven feel of snw on the California & Oregon track, between Edgwood and Montague, and four feet at Dunsmuir. Traffic has been temporarily suspended be tween Redding and Edgewoon, but it is believed by railway offi cials that the track will soon be clear. There is no interruption in traffic between this city aud Red ding. The Newfoundland seal fishery is in a decline. The orice of seal oil has fallen from $165 to $110 per ton, owing to the adaptation of petroleum to uses for which it has hitherto been considered in dispensable. Soother at hand.
