SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2015 Shorewood event brings cheer to Food Share On Sunday, Nov. 13, The Shorewood Retirement Residence held its second annual Holiday Extravaganza to raise food for Florence Food Share. Anyone who attended and brought a nonperishable food item was treated to a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. To start the event off Susan Burkhart, administrative director, presented Len Larson, Florence Area Relief Agency (FAVRA), and Richard Shores, Commander of American Legion Post 59, each with a check for $2,025, from the monies raised at the Veterans Celebration in November. During the event, caroling was provided by the Mapleton Carolers, who got the crowd involved in the festivities. This approach advocates the use of small workstations throughout a classroom where students can learn in different ways — using a computer or tablet, touching or interacting with objects, engaging in dis- cussion, or pursuing individual study. • A counselor received training to teach women and children how to deal with and prevent domestic abuse.
