Joseph Jackson passed aw y about 10:30 p. m., Sunday evening after an illuesa of several weeks. Mr. Jackson has been in poor health for the past year, but until a short time ago was able to get about and attend to his business. He was a prominent stockman of Northern Grant county. Monu ment Enterprise. The Heppner Gazette said last week Heppner would celebrate the Fourth of July in glorious style. "That's the way to do it and as Hpppner all came to us last year tbeu we should go to Heppner .this year. Scheduled meetings of the Ore gon Development League last week proved even greater successes than the most enthusiastic "boost ers" anticipated. At Roseburg the committee .got busy and raised $5,000 for their campaign, doub ling tbe number of tbeir subscrib ers; Central Point had big dele gations from all the principal towns of the Rogue River section, and $1,000 in lens than a half hour showed tbe interest of the au dience.
