Thejury iu the caee of George Horseman, charged with killing C'arence Mc iiroom last May, at 9 o'clock this morning brought in the verdict, "We, the jury in the case of the state of Oregonversus George L. Horseman, find defendant guilty of manslaughter." Daring 17 ballots two men stead fastly voted for conviction of murder ia second degree. First ballot vote stood two second degree, five man slaughter, five not guilty. Those who voted for acquittal explained fellow-jurors did not favor such verdict. Then they voted meditat ing degree of guilty aid finally agreed after being out since 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, on manslaughter verdict. Horseman showed no sigtig of nervousness when he heml the verdict. Opinion has been divided as to selfdefense. McCroom and Horseman had trouble for 60me time over rang affairs; threats were made and Horseman declared that the time would come when he mast shoot. He. told a pitiable story to the court of bow he thought be must shoot and die himself. SO to S5.73. The Wyoming Tribune gives the following list of heavy sheep sales In Wyoming and the prices are so extra ordinary that the item is of interest to Oregon sheepmen. The (Tribune says: The Dan Root outfit waa sold tiiin weak to Kugene McCarty, who has turned it over to the Capital Sheep com pany. The outfit consists of 3000 ewes and lambs, the ewes bringing a price of $4 GO and the lambs S3.50. Mr. Koot will retire from the bheep business and devote his time to the raising of IVrcheron horses, of which he hns a number on his place on juaw creek. George M. Rhodes last week delivered to Arcii T. White of Oxford, Iud., 2 JO 1 imbs of the Kimball Liye Stock com pany for $5 70 per cwt. without a cut back, that being the highest price ever paid here'far Jambs by weight. They were an exceptionally fine lot of lambs, unusually uniform in size, and netted a trifle over $3.K0 per bead the top of tLia season of high prices. Koudson Bros, this week bought the two-thirds interest of Messrs. Fowler and Johnson in 2750 head of ewes bt longing to Kndson, Fowler & Johnson, tbe price paid being 83 per bead and tbe sbet-p are to be delivered on October 15. Knadson Bros, have a splendid range in the Efell country and are in fine shape to care for their bands of sheep. Frank and Kcherek are disposing of their sheep and range and intend goii g to Canada this winter with a view of going into the stock raising business in that country. W. A. Fold bought loOO ewe Iambi from them at $3.50. The Kimball Livestock company bought 2400 ewes at 85.25, and an eastern feeder bought 1500 old ewes at $3 50. They will ship their wethers to market and will close out all their interests here. D. D. Crum last week sold bis hblf interest in 10,000 mixed sheep to hi partner, C. K. Bucknum, the price p d being 84.50 per head. Mr. Crum h ft not decided what be will do now, but he will probably remain in Wyoming.
