A lev davs ago, Robert F. Bynd gold 650 yearling ewe for $2 95 per bead. This ia tbe only Bale reported eo far in tliia city. No one attempt, to explain the quiet condition of tbe market. It teems that buyerf are not quite ready to buy and owners are in do harry about selling. At this time last year buyers were active and a majority of the contracts were consummated. Grant county alockmen are a little abort of feed, but wbetber the shortage ia enough to cut any figure in the mark et, remains to be seen. When businesa atarts, it will probab ly come in a bunch and go like tbe wool sates. SIIEKP AND WOOL NOTCH. The wool busine'S among growers is pretjv well cleaned np all over the country. COLORADO. Wool is about all shipped out. Lees eheep will be fed in tbe northern counties this coming season than last year. Scarcity of feed and consequent high prices are the causes. MONTANA . Manager Vestal of tbe Brigga-Ellis Sheep Company of Big Timber, has of fered a reward of $500 for the return of a band of 1,200 ewe, and !X) lambs which appear to have been run off by thieves. The wool season for 1901 is practically over, liie season at (ireat rails closed August 10. Though feverish and un. certain at times, it was as a rule eteadr, and good priteg irenerally prevailed for a good product. The amount of wool which changed hauls during the seaon will em-eed 10,000,000 pounds. The highest price paid was 1576 cents on i Ju'y M, for a clip of 1 10, 0C0 pounds, and the lowest was 8 cent for a email quantity of exceptionally poor quality, At Big Timber the sales were larger than last years', a little over 2,000,000 pounds, and the average price was a fraction over 13 cents. The highest price paid wan 1-1 1, and the lowest 11 'B cents. Billings will market about 12,000,000 pounds, while the remainder of the abipmenta from Big Timber, Miles City, Chinook, Fort Benton, Glendive and other smaller points will make a total for the state of about SO.OOO.O00 pounds. Prices have ranged from 10 to lt cents, with average about 13'... cents. There appears to be trouble between the abeep men and the cattle men on the range between the Yellowstone and Boulder between McLeod and Spring- lale. It is reported thai a few days ago, several sheep camp were burned out. Poultry Note. Bleased is tbe good housewife who can relieve tbe monotony of salt meats with a dinner of fried chicken once or tw ice a week. The farmer should by all means give his birds ample room. The freedom of the premises and commodious houses pay in mults. , The hen with a free range does better than the one confined within woven j Kbilkoff may be interesting : "The West wire meets ana nounas. Sibaria'a Wonderful Growth. Siberia is growing with wonderful rap idity. Tbe Kiifisn Government is very k'nd to its emigrants. This summer I met a train in Siberia. It was taking fourth-class passengers a distance of 2500 miles for 2.25, giving each person a s'eeping berth, and feeding some of the poorer ones at the many feeding stations along tbe Siberian Railroad. Over 000,000 emigrants have crossed tbe Urals into Siberia in five years. Siberia to-day looks just about as Dakota did twenty-five years ago. To give yon an idea of tbe increase of traffic in Siberia the following figures given me by Prince fV4MtV)9tt)tvM 0t9dr4 taJtfMftkVt14aWflaB9tt 99&G0&001ttotBB& Guanoed Location.:! M. It. Galloway ban moved from bin old stand to Dew quarters opposite tbe First Na tional Bank on May treet, np stain. : : : : There will be a better demand for pure bred fowls each yea' as time pro gresses. Raise chickens for your own table whether yon market any or not. The half grown' fowl is a little the nicest delicacy of the season. If the hens do pot lay change their feed. , Revenge may be sweet or it may be bitter. It depends on who gets it. Wise or Otherwise. Misery dumps a lot of atones on the road to success. It isn't the 2.10 horse that travels the farthest in a day. A woman has got to like a man before she will trust him. There are a lot of unsafe bridges on the road to prosperity. Some outwardly handsome people are deformed on tbe inside. Men attribute therr overstrained men tal condition to brilliancy. Wish for pluck instead of luck, then go to work and success is yours. What a jollv world this would be if the poets coti'd only eat their poems. Honesty may be the best policy, but p'aying policy often leads to dishonesty. The dog with the handsomest collar doesn't always put up the gameet fight. Some men have no desire to reach the top of the ladder as long ss there is a woman at the bottom of it. Musicians should be strictly temper ate ; if otherwise they mav get into thp habit of s'oppirg at every bar. The man who never makes an enemy may be a good man, but it's diilicn't to determine jti"t what be i. good for. The man who never had to earn bis bread by the sweat of bin brow doesn't negin to realize wnat a good time lie is having. 1 some people were deaf and dumb it would nndoubted'y be a great blessing for those w-ho are compelled to assoc iate with them. Tbe man who observes much persist ence in attending to his own business seldom becomes involved in the troubles of others. A woman always makes up her mind about a thing before she asks a man's advice, and if he happens to acree with ber his reputation for wisdom is forever established with her. Siberian Road (that is, the section of 2000 miles from the Urals to Irkutsk), in 1890 carried 100,000 passengers. 169,- 000 emigrants and 10,500,000 puds of goods f pud is 40 pounds). In 1898 it carried 379,000 passengers, 195,000 emi grants and 30,000,000 puds of goods." Leslie's Weekly. I Guarantee My Work; Having arranged tbe building myself, tbe light is perfect, and. Reliable estimates gathered by dis tricts and counties from the moet authen tic sources in all grain-growing districts of the state place the whrat yield for the present season at 30,O?0.000 bushels as against 23,500,000 bushels last year and less than 20,000,000 for 1899. This estimate is based on tbe figures of grain buyers, warehouse men and tbe -agents of railroad companies for tbe different districts, and the figures taken in. each instance are those which are given the greatest credence by reliable and con servative dealers and shippers.
