ISLE OF MYSTERY ABLY PRESENTED A good sized audience witnessed and enjoyed the first performance of "The Isle of Mystery." a musical comedy given last night by home talent un der the auspices of the Loyal Order of Moose. The piece itself was full of sparkling comedy and catchy mu sic which together with beautiful electrical effects and pretty scenic settings made it an unusually good vehicle for amateur histronic ability. Miss Louise Wise was clearly the star of the evening with her "Swing Song" and other numbers and she was encored time and again. Perhaps the greatest hit of the entertainment was the song "We've Alwftva Kept the Golden Rule," sung by Charles W. Melghan and the choruses of which were illustrated by playmates "from the cradle to the grave." Other numbers of especial merit were the songs of Walter Rose and Mrs. Rose, A. R. Lord, John Carroll, R. J. Brush, Laura Swift and Enos Eand berg. The chorus, too, was well train ed and deserves its share of credit for the success of the affair. It was an ambitious undertaking for home talent and the success with which it was attended speaks well for those who directed lhe rehearsals. It will be repeated tonight and another big audience Is expected. For sale Visible typewriter, good order, cheap. G. W. Fritz, 701 Thompson street.
