Brem erton, Is now under way nnd It Is ex pected the concrete work will be com pleted within four months. One hundred thousand cubic yards of con crete will be used In the construction of the drydock. The thickness at the medial line, on which the keel of the battleships will rest, will be 17 feet, tapering down, to 12 feet along the sides. Blocks of granite will be used used to reinforce the concrete work. When this part of the great under taking has been completed, the gran ite sides of the gigantic basin will be made. One of the features in con nection with the building of the Bremerton dock Is thnt not a single pile was necessary to afford founda tion for the concrete nnd stone work. In the construction of the Mare Islnnd drydock thousands of feet ' of piling were driven into the morass In order to obtain a foundation. First ground on the Bremerton dock was broken January 4, 1909, nnd the work Is about 2S per cent completed. The original contract called for tho completion of the dock In three years, but Contractor E. J. Erlckson says that he will not be able to finish the work within that period, owing to de lays Imposed by the navy department and because of the enlargement of tho drydock, which will necessitate con siderable more labor.- When the digestion Is all right, the action of the bowels regular, there Is a natural craving and relish for food. When this Is lacking you may know that you need a dose of Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver ablets. They strengthen the digestive organs, Im prove the appetite and regulate the bowels. Lord Cowdray, better known as Sir Weetman Pearson, has again buckled on his armor and pro poses to fight his antagonist of the Standard Oil. on the oil fields of Mexi co. He will leave London at the end of this month, going first to New ork and thence to Mexico by way of St. Louis. This is the trip that he ought to have taken last spring, but deemed it advisable not to venture nto the country where violent feuds were raging between his and the Wa- er-FIerce interests. During these months of compara tive quiet. Lord Cowdray has thor oughly organized his resources and his nmpalgn will be aggressive, no quar ter being shown. He realizes It will be a battle to the death, but It Is his boast that he has never been worsted r any financial contest. He has ex pressed to his friends his willingness to Spend every dollar to maintain the control and supremacy of his oil fields. Lord Cowdrny's appearance In Mex ico will probably be the signal for a renewal of hostilities and It Is also expected that the Standard Oil with Its huge resources will not only fight lilin In Mexico but thnt during his absence It will conduct a formidable campaign In England.
