YOUR OPPORTUNITY read news item taken from Portland Journal Tuesday, March 1 5 Y COUNCIL E CREST PROVIDE EOR MOBILE 1 One million dollars will be spent by the Ogdcn men behind the project to 'tunnel under Council Crest and estab lish a suburban residence district in the Tualatin valley east of the big hill. Plans for this project have so far progressed that the promoters have procured options on practically two thirds of the Tualatin valley contigu ous to the eastern foot of Council Crest, and in part along the eastern slope of the hill. The route for the tunnel has also been determined up on, and permission gained to con struct the bore according to this route. It is intended to make this tunnel of sufficient size to permit an automobile or carriage driveway on either side of the car track, which la to be laid In the middle.. The tunnel will be a lit tle over a mile In length, and will give a means of maintaining a 7-lnute car service between the downtown dist rict of the city and the heart of the Tualatin valley, thus opening that dis trict as one of the most desirable and beautiful residence sections of the city.
