' SPECIAL MEETING WILL NOT BE HELD SULT ENTZXE LIST ANT) OF FICIAL CtASSlriCATTOH OF II 1TTBITB TOM OBBAT EXHIBITION WILL BE KEPT BUCKET rSObT FUBLIC TOK TIME. It la probable that the entire list and official rlaaalflcatlon of the l,ewls and Clark fair wU be held up until after the regular meeting; of the state commis sion. Some friction aroae, over the adoption of this classification, some months ago and the question haa, since that lime, been an open one. The list was prepared by Colonel Dosch, director of exhibits for the cor poration, in the spring and was pub llahed. It Is complete and goes Into the minute detalla of the preparation and classification of all the exhibits, to be. received by the fair board for awards. Mr. Dosch arranged the Hat, after long consideration, and used the experience, gained In other national exposition by himself and others, to weed out many claaaea that appeared to him and his aa soclateejof the corporation as unfitting for a fafa. of the character of the 1805 exposition. Particular stresa was laid upon exhibits dealing with the resourcea and Industries of the Pacific coast. The book of rulea and claaalflcatlona of exhibits was sdopted soon after Its presentation by the executive board of the corporation, but during Mr. Dosch'a abaence in the east it wsa not further conaldered and not until his recent re turn was It taken up again, and on August 18 It was sent to the atate com mlaalon by President Ooode of the cor poration for that body's approval. President Myers of the commission appointed Commissioner F. O. Toung, J. H. Alberts and R. Scott as a commit tee to pass on the book and last week Mr. Toung and Mr. Scott devoted sev eral daya to this work, Mr. Alberts being out of the city. The report of this com mittee will be preaented to the commis sion at Its next regular meeting on Sep tember 10, and then definite action will be taken regarding It. Meanwhile the rules snd Hats must wait and the corporation officials are anxloua to hurry the adoption of the claaalflcatlon Hat and get the book printed before Mr. Dosch'a return to St, Louis. They hsve suggested to the com mission that a special meeting be called to adopt the work. Owing to the coat no special meeting will be called, ac cording to President Myers, snd owing to the short time the committee has had to consider the extended Hat of exhibit classes. It Is not considered, beat by the members of the commission to hurry. It la probable that the work, as pre pare, i by the director, will not meet with the entire approval of the commis sion, the livestock classes being especi ally objected to by Mr. Scott who Is sn Kpert In this field.
