SHIP CHANNELS. S. F. Bulletin. The Boston Journal says: "It will require about eight years to complete the new thirty-five-foot ship channel from the harves of Boston to the open sea. There Is no shitting bar which blocks this port. The bottom of the harbor is not of sand. It is of a touch er, harder, more difficult material a tenacious clay with ledges here and there and many burled boulders. This Is why the engineers' estimate of the cost of a deep channel 1500 feet wide ran up to the huge figure of J10.000.000." The Boston project is In line with much more costly projects to open a waterway from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic large enough to float ordinary Atlantic steamers. The present river and harbor bill carries an appropriation of J3,000,( for the Boston harbor pro ject, which will carry the work along about three years. The purpose of these projects is to reduce transporta tion between American and foreign ports to the lowest possible cost. The cost per ton for carrying freight In a large vessel is less than in a small cne, but large vessels require a deeper channel than small ones. As a city which has a forty-foot channel has a clear advantage over a city that has only a J5-foot channel, the city having the smaller channel calls upon the fed eral government to equalise conditions at its own expense. IT CURES THE COLD AND STOPS THE COUGH. Laxative Bromo Quinine Tablets cure a cold In one day. No cure, no par. Price 5 cent. The Countess Castellane alludes to the count as ''My dear husband." Very dear. Indeed. Cb&pped hands, cracked lips and roughness of the skin cured quickly by Banner Salve, the most healing ointment in the world. CHAS. ROG ERS. Druggist. Andrew Lang has been writing n -The Joys of Being a Vir.i&n." He probably means a vaudivillian. IF BANNER SALVE doesn t cure your piles, your money will be returned. It is the most heal' ing medicine. CHAS. ROGERS, Drug gist. You can always tell when a girl thinks she is "intellectual by the way she combs her hair. Save doctors' bills by giving Foley's Honey and Tar to infants and children In time to prevent pneumonia or croup, which are fatal to so many thousands Of babies. CHAS. ROGERS, Druggist. It does what you claim it will do, and there Is nothing equal to it, and 1 thank you for the good it has done me." Accept no substitute. CHAS. ROGERS, Druggist. If It wasn't for silk petticoats, wom en's skirts would get a lot dirtier. I TO CURE A COUGH stop coughing, as it irritates the lungs, and gives them no chance to heal. A man can hold a woman best by making her believe he is awfully afraid he can't. CONSUMPTION THREATENED. C. Unger, 21! Maple St., Champaign, 111., writes: "I was troubled with a backing cough for a year and I thought I iiad the consumption. I tried a great many remedi-3 and was under the care of j,hv:-..!flna for several months. I Tw. it cured me. and I have not been trol.;'-l tin CHARLES ROGERS. ; . . . .
