Robert Ingersol's name was made notor ious in the christian world, and his character famous among his sympathizers, by a jesting remark at a large banquet in Washington, D. C. t The '.consternation which this remark caused among America's leading minds showed to "Robert" that he had struck the mother lode, hence he stirred the world and drew to him the people's gold. Robert Ingersol was not an infidel at heart Kinney is not a street car man, and had no authority to order a five-cent hack service between North Bend and Marshiield. He, in jest, Instructed " Win," the Navajos scout, to get his teams together and put on an overland stage at a five-cent fare, intending to countermand the order, but did not in time, and will now make an effort to get the directors to order out this service. If O'Kelly's street franchise joke should turn out as serious as this jest may, we will have two street car systems this rear. "Go ahead," O'Kelly, I am not half as scared of you as I would be if that energetic and for cible old partner in life was with you now. Such a progressive team no mortal ever did see. The proposition of life, liberty and progress is to double team everything, single file nothing. r If the Coos Bay Rapid Transit Company does not col lect the first fare on an electric street car between Marshfield and North Bend I will wheel O'Kelly from Marshfield to North Bend and return for ten cents and will at once with this capital start a transcontinental railroad out of Coos Bay. 1 , Yours Respectfully, L. D. KINNEY O. K. W. P. EVANS President Cops Bay Rapid Transit Co.
