Fulton Can't Come. C. W. Ful ton, former United States senator from Oregon but now an attorney In Portland, who was Invited to attend the Oregon-Idaho Development con gress here, August 20 and 21, has written that a previous engagement will prevent him coming. CnrdM ell's Cow W. W. Card well, besides having one of the fastest hor ses on the turf In Oregon, has an edu cated cow. This cow is said to be a wonder. She actually digs potatoes and eats them. While being staked at the edge of a fine patch of alfalfa, she is frequently seen in the potato patch, which is loose sandy soil, paw ing up the spuds and eating them. Roseburg Review. Goes to Meeting. J. Lee Brown of the Brown Drug Company, will leave next week for Los Angeles where he will attend the national convention of the American Phar maceutical Association which will bo held there August 16 to 20. Mr. Brown Is one of the eight members of the association In Oregqn. Mrs. Brown will accompany him and fol lowing the convention, they will visit various points of Interest In that section. Prominent Men Here. F. B. Walte of Roseburg, and John K. Kollock of Portland, reached here last evening from Roseburg via the Coos Bay wagon road. Henry Sengstacken -sent his private launch to Sumner to meet them. Messrs. Mr. Mahoney has postponed his return to Portland for a few days. MRS. JOHN SNYDER of South Broadway, has returned from an extended visit at the homo of her son, George Snyder, on Daniels Creek. MISS MAMIE MAHONEY left this afternoon for the Sigma Chi Boat house on South Coos River where she will spend a few days with the house party which Mrs. P. M. Wilbur Is chaperoning there. JOE BACCI, who has been running the shining stand at the O K bar ber shop, left yesterday on the Alliance for Missoula, Mont., where he will locate En route, ho will take In the Seattle Fair. A. O. KJELLAND Is able to bo about once more after a two months' siege with stomach trouble. He Is now at the General hospital but hopes to be sufficient ly recuperated In a few days to leave for his home in North Bend. F. M. FRIEDBERG, who has been down from his South Coos River bungalow for a few days looking after business Interests, returned to the summer colony this morn ing. Wing, the son of Tie-Tie, that ho was entitled to readmlsslon to the United States, loft yesterday for the Rose City.
