The room was draped in the class colors, rose and green The floral decorations carried out the same color scheme. Miss Smith's and Mrs. Kelley's de partments joined in a picnic at East port Friday. The Mother's Club were guests. The construction of the new $10, 000 school house will begin at once, and it will be ready for the reopening of school in the fall. Harris at their home near Myrtle Point on Friday, May 28th. BRIEFS OF BANDON. Mrs. C. McCulloch and her daugh ter, Miss Lydia of North Bendr pass ed through town the first of the week on their way to Seattle where they expect to locate, Gus McCulloch having preceded them on the boat. They formerly resided here. Laney Parrlsh had the misfortune to split one of his knee caps last week while making ajrun down hill after a cow. Up fell and struck his knee against a sharp rock or stick. He received surgical attendance but the probabilities are that he will be lame for some time. W. W. Williams, the building con tractor, has gone to the East Fork country to begin work on three large and modern dwellings which he is to build this summei One of them Is to be built for G. G. Swan, another for Mr. J. Krantr. and a third for Mr. Letherman who recently bought the D. C. Krantz place. While making a professional call up the Middle Fork valley Tuesday night, J. L. Masson, the veterinary surgeon was thrown from his horse which fell over him after he was down. He was picked up by the Incoming stage and brought Into town. Capitalists from Seattle, coming in via West FcrK, are now taking hold of the rich copper mines on Collier's creek and the lower Illi nois river. Johnson is preparing a fine wire yard at his place just across from tho court house in which he will soon turn out a fine lot of Chinese, p'heasant chicks which are now hatching. Mr. Johnson Is go ing Into tho pheasant business on a much larger scale than Is usually the case and will soon have young pairs for salo. A caucus of town voters will be held In opera hall. Tuesday, June 15th, to nominate candidates for city election to be held June 28, Includ ing mayor, recorder,, judge and' six councilmen. Clarence Bolca, formerly of the Bandon L. S. S., but now Captain of the Empire L. S. S. was in Ban don this week and on Wednesday made this office a pleasant call. Cap tain Bolce notes many improvements in Bandon in recent months. Captain O. Wii-en, co-operative ob server, reports the weather for the month of May as follows: Amount rainfall was 2.99 Inches. Days clear 14, days cloudy and rainy 17. The rainfall for the corresponding month last year was 3.72 inches, making- a difference of .73 of an inch. Once more on Tuesday was de monstrated the fact that It Is almost a futile attempt to Incorporate ad jacent territory to a municipality by a vote of the residents of that territory. The proposition of in corporating platted districts adjacent to Bandon was put to vote of the people in these sections and defeated by a ratio of to three to one. WILL MEET IN" BANDON. Coos County Knights of Pythins There Monday. BANDON, Or.., June 6. The Knights of Pythias of Coos county will hold their second annual con vention in Bandon Monday, June 7th. There will probably be about 200 visiting Knights from the vari ous lodges of the county, and Delphi lodge of Bandon is leaving no stones unturned in their preparations to show their brethren a good time.
