He has secured a license as a master plumber here and expects to engage in business shortly. Canoe Upsets. Joe Schooley "tarted out yesterday to enjoy a canoe rldo on the Bay. In some manner, the craft upset and gave Joe his first plunge In the Bay this sea- ron. He says the water Isn't as cold fas it might be. Men from the dredge Oregon helped him right the canoe and ho paddled ashore. Improve Tenth street. Judge Hall, W. U. Douglas, A. B. Tho street car franchise was not brought up at the council meeting last night as some expected it would. Whether It was because the final copies of the ordinance, as revised at the last ses sion, or whether tho committee thought It useless until the council gets together has not been announc ed. Buys Saloon. Roy Moore has purchased the Claymore saloon from W. J. Butler, administrator of the estate of Clay Moore. The council has transferred the license held by tho late Clay Moore to Roy Moore, a brother of the deceased who was as sociated In the business with tho former. Tho place was reopened to day. Hulklioud Troubles. Robert Krueger stated that the complaints about the leaking of tho bulkhead around his propprty are not justi fied. He built the bulkhead himself at the suggestion of Dr Mlngus bo cause they could not got enough men to do all the work that was waiting and later he guarded It himself and stopped leaks as rapidly as possible. A crowded house greeted the ini tial performance of "Tho Man from Mexico" at North Bend last night. The success of the play even exceed ed the antlcipatK ns of those who had been let in on tho rehearsals, the various members of the cast doing unusually well. All of them showed up well, sharing tho honors equally. In the audience were many from Marshfleld and -i number of theso signified their intention of going again when the same cast under tho direction of Prof. Swearlngen will put on the play a the Masonic Opera House In Marshfleld. The advance sale of tickets here has been large, Insuring a good attendance. Tho net proceeds of tho play both in North Bend and In Marshfleld go to the benefit of Mercy hospital.
