FORT WORTH, Ter., April 15. The famous New York hen that laid 130 eggs between December 3 and February 11 and is even said to haTe laid twelve In one day, will soon have to look to her laurels. A Riverside hen just a plain ordinary Wyandotte, wi'l, according to her owner, soon make the New Yorker look like the proverbial 30 cents. L. E. Hardesty Is the ow ner of the hen and, according to his story, the hen started her egg-laing record with ten in one day. For fear that some who still cling to the belief that one egg a day is a hen's limit, Mr. Hardesty gives a few details. There is a small net wire pen on Mr Hardesty's property. The pen has not been occupied and there is only one place through which a hen could enter. That Is through an opening in the top, not more than a foot square If the hen should walk on top of the pen and should enter through the small opening there would not be a chance in a thousand that she could fly out through the opening. The floor of the pen Is bare When Mrs. Hardesty was gather ing up the eggF the other afternoon she saw the Wyandotte in the pen and went to release her. She was surprised, not to say startled, when she fornd ten eggs on the floor of the pen. The eggs could not have been laid previous to that day, for if they had they would have been frozen. The eggs were all in good condition and were exactly alike In form, size and color. A careful ex amination of the pen was made to see if it were not possible that other hens had entered. Mr. Herdestv, who is connected with the Southvestern Telephone Company, Is a chicken fancier of rarge experience and success. WILL DIG FOR IDE A VOTE FOR THE PORT HI LI. IS V VOTE FOR PROSPERITY. MISSING MILL HAND LEFT FOR PORTLAND Mysterious Absence of J. W. Harnett Explained After Sonic Search Left Goods at Room Here. C A. Barnett, a C. A. Smith mill band, who suddenly disappeared from his rooming place over the Brewery Saloon, was located jester day afternon bv Marshal Carter after a short search. Fritz Wlm mer, Barnett's -oommate, and other friends became alarmed when he did not show up and feared that might possibly been the victim of foul play or an accident Barnett did not take his extra clothing and other belongings from the room. After some search. Marshal Car ter found that Parnett had left with a couple of other fellows for Port land, being taken down to the steam ship a few weeks ago by Ed. Lapp. Barnett was a young fellow and probably didn't think that his hasty departure would cause any uneasi ness. Barnett was a Myrtle Point boy and his brother, J. W. Barnett of that place, came to Marshfield Tues day and at once instituted an act he search which resulted in disclosing the above facts. A VOTE FOR THE PORT BILL IS A VOTE FOR PROSPERITY.
