The dredge Oregon is now clearing tiio channel between the channel and tho docks and Is doing excellent work. The work is being watched by a large number and many compliments ara being bestowed upon Capt. Peters and his crew for the fine service they are giving. May Snll Saturday. A message from Portland says tho Broakw.ater will be unable to sail from there be fore Saturday evening. It Is not certain that her rudder which was damaged while coming down the Columbia night before last, can bo repaired by then, but Capt. Magenn hopes to be able to reach Coos Bay by Monday. Accident at Mill. Owing to an accident to tho shafting at tho C. A. Smith mill, the plant had to bo closed down today. General Man ager Oren stated that temporarily repairs would bo effected so that they could start up tomorrow. It will bo necessary to send away for some of the broken parts before the damage can bo permanently repair ed. M. C. Horton to Build. M. C. .iorton of tho First Trust and Sav ings Bank, has purchased Block four In Sengstacken's addition and expects to build a handsome resi dence there for his own home.
