UNION IT E M S . Union is building up since it has the county seat. Dr. M. Baker has the founda tion laid for a new drug store, and several dwellings are in course o f erection. Union and the Cove will celebrate the 4th o f July jointly this season. We expect one o f the grandest times on record. A general invitation is extended. It will be at Union. The celebrated race horse, Buckskin, has the sweeny, caused by running against the •fence while training for the spring races. He will probably he able to appear upon the rturf this fall, however. The Sentinel says “ the question is being agitated whether the Sheriff, Clerk and Treasurer will not attempt to hold over for the want o f legal County Court, Ac. We think.it will be agitated Arkansas style if that is .tried. What do you think? BONUS. P e d r o .— This is a new game oi cards re. cently introduced in the State o f Nevada. The game counts high, low, jack, game—one point each; pedro, five points; puzzle five points; Columbus, three points, and Van Winkle three points. The 5 spot o f trumps is pedro, and when caught or saved counts five points to the player taking it in; puzzle is the five spot o f the suit of the same color as the trump, and counts five; Columbus is the nine spot of trumps, and counts tjiree; Van Winkle is the jack o f clubs, and counts four when it is trumps, and counts three re gardless o f what may be trumps. In all 20 points may be made in one hand. The game is any number of points agreed upon by the player*. There is buying and selling in the gam*. The player buying, or the one refus ing to sell, loses as many points as he gave or was offered, if he does not make at least that many on the hand. The player makes the trump to suit his hand.
